The service faces a financial deficit ( a melt-down) of up to £800m and some 7,000 job losses have already been confirmed. This morning further 13,000 Nursing jobs cuts are announced.
Despite huge job losses and mounting financial problems, the NHS is enjoying "its best year ever" according to Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt.
Comment: This is as believable (for the gullible public I hasten to add) as ex-president Clinton saying – "I did not have sex with that woman." or Bush saying there is no civil war in Iraq.

Ayaan (Luck, Kismet) seems to be my kind of equality-led and diversity-led social champion. I wish her and her types all the luck and God-speed in their crusade for social justice irrespective of the inherent risks. Truth is God.
I have argued that where there is no injustice, unfairness &/or inequality – there can be no strife, dissatisfaction, disappointment, disaffection, complaint or grievance. I have lot of respect for women like her.
I am sure she’ll carve-out a very persuasive and influential career.
