Darjeeling – the champagne of narrow gauge railways

View from train carriage window

The views from the train’s windows are some of the most spectacular in the world, and if you look closely it is sometimes possible to see Mount Everest in the far distance.

Comment: The similar train exists in the hill station Shimla where it is said that one can jump off it whilst in uphill motion, relieve oneself in the privacy of the nearby bushes and get back on it again without any commotion.

The Nilgiri mountain railyways train is a delight for tourists returning from Ooty to Coimbatore. Every new turn brings a wonderful view!

Thank you for your hat trick comments Vijay.
    (1) Darjeeling: We have been to Ooty. We love it. the Nilgiri Hills with the tea plantations are out of this World – green and fragrant. It was my heaven. I know what you mean. I am very very fond of that area including its Nilgiri oils (my childhood memories during colds and sniffs) and especially Orange Pekoe Tea. Please ship me some. My wife will bless you for ever.
    (2) Mittal Metal : Thanks for your input about the foreign investment index. This is precisely why your contributions are of immense value to all. I’ll look it up later.
    (3) Perceived Exclusion of Hindus in UK: I was just talking to my daughter Radha. She feels the same way. The Truth must triumph even if the Hindus feel hurt. The only way to show the way to others is by being exemplary. Don’t you agree?
