That’s a stroke of encouragement to the Independents given that the long entrenched unrepresentative and manipulative system of political parties thrusting their favoured candidates into unrelated ‘winnable’ constituencies has come home to roost.
Good for Gary Elsby to have the strength of character and courage, without fear or favour, to speak up and stand up as the only locally domiciled candidate from and at great cost to the Labour Party.
A very warm welcome to Gary to see the world from under-the-skin as a local, representing and serving the local community in which he has lived.
Despite many other ‘winnable seats’ in the country following hasty departure of many MPs [who against the public anger are going to receive their £65K re-settlement allowances] I chose to stand in Milton Keynes North as I have been domiciled here only for the last 31 years.
As a part of my ‘Reform Commitment’ I would change this ‘candidate qualification’ to a requirement that each candidate in each constituency must be, besides a British citizen, a registered and established local domicile for at least 5 years.
