Swami Ramdev plans to do for the body politic what he has already done to the country’s creaky physiques: whip it into shape. He announced last month that he would found a political party that would field candidates for each of the 543 parliamentary seats in India’s next general election in 2014.

Will Christians or other Faiths swing the 2010 UK election?
The Westminster 2010 Declaration, signed by former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey and Cardinal O’Brien, the leader of Catholics in Scotland, has some strong advice :

Christians should work to ensure “religious liberty and freedom of conscience are unequivocally protected against interference by the state and other threats“, while they “will not be intimidated by any cultural or political power into silence or acquiescence”.
Given that the Christian Faith has lost its credibility through innumerable paedophilic scandals and ignoring the silent complaints and complainants, and the Church’s advice on “freedom of conscience“, it appears to me that irrespective of your Faith or no-Faith, the only alternative to Party Politicking is to vote for Independents.

The Catholic bishops of England and Wales have made what is probably the most wholesale apology and admission of guilt over the entire handling of priestly abuse of children and young people in their care. Even the Pope seems to be moving towards such position; five months after four Irish bishops offered him their resignation for their role in the business.
The Pope has finally accepted the resignation of one of them. He’s already accepted the resignation of another – but two more bishops are still waiting to be told whether they can step down. The church is not discussing involving the police at this level or indeed in paying out money as compensation.
Are they mind readers? I hope the Govt were.

During 2005 General Election blog I wrote on this issue suggesting this tack. Lord Prof Bhikhu Parekh also vaunted the Jain Philosophy of Gandhi in the Middle -East tinder-box.
Even Rajmohan Gandhi says the Palestinians face a “much tougher battle” against US-backed Israel, than the Indians, with strong international support, did against British colonial rule.

Israeli settlement near the Palestinian village of Qatana says “If the world supports us, peaceful resistance will get us something back.,” he says.
“Whatshisname… Gandhi… the world supported him, and he kicked the British out of India,” he says.
Of Government Mahatma Gandhi said ” What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty and democracy?

Now, let’s see the proof of the Palestinian-protest-penetration. I hope they do not let go of the visualisation of what is achievable.
To that peaceful resolution then, I give my unequivocal support here and now and require the corrosive Israeli lobby both in the UK & US to be castrated of its pecuniary potency of perpetrating Global conflict and injustices.
